Italy sees surge in Brazilian tourism and foreign property interest
Italy is experiencing a significant surge in interest from international visitors and property buyers. According to data from Civitatis, there has been a 40% increase in experience bookings by Brazilian tourists between January and August 2026 compared to the previous year. This growth accounts for 15% of all international bookings by Brazilians, surpassing destinations like Spain and France. Rome remains the top destination for this demographic, seeing a 42% increase, while locations such as Sorrento have seen a 158% rise in interest.
Parallel to the tourism boom, the Italian real estate market is seeing increased demand from foreign buyers looking for smaller towns and villages. Data from the Gate-away portal indicates that while prices in some areas have risen sharply, many small municipalities remain accessible. Highly sought-after locations include Ostuni in Brindisi, Tortora in Calabria, and Caltagirone in Sicily. The interest in these secondary locations suggests a trend of travelers and buyers looking beyond major metropolitan hubs.
