Italy sees surge in nursing specialization enrollment
Enrollment for entrance exams for three new clinical specialization paths in Master's degrees in Nursing Sciences has seen a significant surge across 13 Italian universities. Following academic reforms promoted by the FNOPI in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of University and Research, at least 3,300 nurses are competing for 759 available positions.
The specialized tracks include Intensive Care and Emergency, which accounts for 60% of the total interest; Primary Care, Family, and Community Nursing, which attracts 30% of applicants; and Neonatal and Pediatric Care. Additionally, the standard Master's in Nursing Sciences, focused on managerial, educational, and research competencies, continues to maintain strong national interest.
Written exams are scheduled for October 5 for Italian-language courses and October 7 for English-language courses. Major metropolitan areas are driving the high demand, with Sapienza University of Rome recording the highest peak in applications.
