Italy sees suspicious items left at homes in Civitavecchia and Falconara Alta

In the coastal town of Civitavecchia, blue candies were found placed on doorsteps and sidewalks in several apartments. Local coordinator Cinzia Napoli warned residents that the objects may be used by thieves to test whether homes are occupied, a technique described by the Polizia di Stato. Police have advised residents to photograph any such items, report suspicious activity and call emergency services if a door is forced.

In Falconara Alta, dried anchovies and pills were positioned on a wall near private garages. A dog ate one of the pills but was taken to a veterinarian in time and recovered. The local police removed the bait, posted warning signs and launched an investigation to determine whether the items were poisoned and who placed them. The incident raised concern among pet owners in the neighbourhood.
