Italy sets new reporting deadlines for 5×1000 donations and municipal election reimbursements
The Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies reminds charities receiving the 5×1000 tax donation that they must file a detailed report within twelve months of receipt. Contributions above €20,000 must be submitted to the ministry via the online platform within 30 days of the deadline, and a public summary must be posted on the organization’s website within 60 days. All documentation must be retained for ten years.
Separately, the Ministry of the Interior issued a decree outlining the allocation of funds to municipalities for reimbursements of technical and organisational costs incurred during the March 22‑23, 2026 referenda. Each municipality receives an advance of 90% of the approved amount, with the full amount to be paid after submission of expense reports by 31 October 2026. Technical issues with the “Finanza Locale” platform will not penalise timely submissions.
Both measures aim to improve fiscal transparency and ensure timely disbursement of public funds across Italy’s non‑profit and local government sectors.
