Italy to raise teachers' and ATA staff salaries by €150 a month from 2027
The teachers’ union Anief has asked the Italian government to insert a €150 monthly increase for school teachers and administrative‑technical (ATA) staff into the next state budget, with a further €150 to follow from 2028. The union also wants the “Carta del Docente” restored to €500 a year, recovering the €117 cut made previously, and proposes a tax exemption that could return at least €1,500 per worker. The public payroll system NoiPA has confirmed that the arrears from the 2025‑2027 education contract will be credited in August 2026, with average amounts of €855 gross for teachers and €633 gross for ATA staff. The same August payout will include the new permanent salary bumps of roughly €143 gross per month for teachers and €107 gross for ATA employees.
These measures aim to narrow the pay gap between school staff and other public‑sector workers and offset the loss of purchasing power caused by inflation.
