Italy targets €700 billion export goal, seeks new trade partnerships

Andrea Bonomi, chairman of Investindustrial, told an Adnkronos live broadcast that Europe already has ample capital but lacks the right attitude and regulatory framework to deploy it effectively. He urged a shift toward implementation, comparing Europe’s approach to the Gulf’s Vision plans.

In parallel, Italian economic analysts stress that Italy must diversify its export strategy to meet a government‑set target of €700 billion in annual exports by 2027‑28, up from roughly €620‑630 billion today. The plan calls for stronger ties with non‑EU partners such as Japan, Canada and the United Kingdom, leveraging recent EU‑Japan and EU‑Canada customs agreements, while also deepening technology collaboration and attracting foreign investment to sustain industrial growth.

Both viewpoints highlight the need for coordinated policy, regulatory reforms, and increased foreign capital to boost Italy’s competitiveness within Europe and globally.
