Italy: Teachers demand better pay and professional recognition

As the new school year begins in Italy, educators are calling for improved economic and professional treatment. Eraldo Affinati, founder of the Penny Wirton school, highlights that while teachers are essential for forming future citizens and the country's cultural and economic growth, their social and economic recognition remains insufficient.

Affinati notes that Italian teacher salaries are perceived as low compared to many European Union colleagues. He criticizes government interventions as being often temporary or emergency-based rather than structural, arguing that the current perception of the profession does not reflect its immense ethical and social responsibility.
