Italy to allow remote deliberative teacher meetings from 2026

Starting from the 2026/2027 school year, Italian teachers will be able to conduct deliberative collegial meetings, such as teacher assemblies and class councils, remotely. This change follows an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Merit and various unions, implementing Article 44, paragraph 6 of the 2019-2021 National Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL).

While non-deliberative meetings could previously be held online, the new regulations grant full legal validity to decisions made via remote platforms. To ensure the integrity of these acts, the Ministry has established strict technical requirements for the digital tools used. These include verified personal identification, unique credentials, traceability of operations, data security, and the ability to guarantee secret voting through a structural and irreversible separation between the voter's identity and their vote.
