Italy to Host Lebanon Diplomatic Talks in August 2026

Italy's foreign minister Antonio Tajani announced that Rome will host a new round of dialogue on Lebanon on 4 August 2026, following earlier sessions held in the capital. The meeting aims to sustain the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) role, monitor the cease‑fire along the Israel‑Lebanon border and reduce the risk of renewed conflict. Tajani also said Italy will convene a global alliance meeting on a two‑state solution for the Israeli‑Palestinian conflict on 28‑29 July 2026, which he will co‑chair with his Saudi counterpart, emphasizing interfaith dialogue and possible sanctions against Israeli settlement expansion.
