Italy implements various transport and mobility reforms
Italy is implementing various regional and national measures to modernize transport and mobility. In Lombardy, €15.6 million is allocated to early-stage tech startups focusing on energy, while an additional €2.1 million is dedicated to helping taxi drivers transition to electric, hydrogen, or hybrid vehicles.
At the national level, the 2027 transport bonus is being restructured into a digital “personal mobility account” worth between €100 and €400 for low-income commuters. Additionally, new regulations will exempt certain petrol and diesel vehicles with power up to 80 kW from the annual car tax (bollo auto) for one vehicle per person.
Industry associations, including Motus-E and ANFIA, have proposed tax reforms for corporate fleets to accelerate electrification and reduce reliance on imported fossil fuels. Meanwhile, the Marche region has increased funding for local public transport to €90 million to modernize bus fleets with hydrogen and other advanced technologies. In Teramo, all 30 PNRR-funded projects have been successfully completed and accounted for.
