Italy to provide 500 euro food cards for low-income families in 2026

The Italian government has outlined details for the 2026 edition of the 'Carta Dedicata a Te', a 500 euro benefit designed to assist families with essential food purchases. To qualify, households must reside in Italy and have an ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator) not exceeding 15,000 euros.

Beneficiaries do not need to submit a formal application. Instead, INPS identifies potential candidates, and local municipalities verify the lists to manage assignments. Credits are expected to begin in October 2026, and the funds must be spent on essential food items by October 10, 2027. The program is supported by a fund of 500 million euros for 2026 and an equal amount for 2027.
