Italy secures 65 medals at European swimming and athletics championships

Italy has achieved a significant sporting milestone, securing a total of 65 medals across the recent European swimming and athletics championships held in Paris and Birmingham.

In athletics, Italy finished at the top of the medal table with 22 medals, including 10 golds. Notable performances included Sofia Fiorini, who set a new world record in the women's race walk marathon, and Larissa Iapichino, who secured gold in the long jump. Other gold medalists included Leonardo Fabbri in shot put and Andy Díaz Hernández in triple jump.

In swimming, the Italian team earned 43 medals, including 13 golds. While this massive haul demonstrated dominance in the pool, Italy finished second in the swimming medal standings, narrowly trailing Great Britain, which secured 14 golds.
