Italy tourism: Alghero manages overtourism as Bellaria hosts marine safety event

In Alghero, Italy, local authorities are addressing the challenges of overtourism. During the peak months of July and August, the city sees over 200,000 visitors, a figure nearly five times the local resident population. This influx puts significant pressure on essential services, security, and infrastructure. To manage this, Tourism Councilor Ornella Piras stated the city aims to work with neighboring municipalities to create an integrated promotion strategy, encouraging visitors to explore a wider territory and reducing the concentration in Alghero during high season.

Meanwhile, in Bellaria Igea Marina, the Nucleo di Protezione Civile is hosting the third installment of the “Blu Sicuro” project. This free initiative is designed to introduce children and adults to the underwater world through supervised diving experiences. The program focuses on combining fun with marine safety education, teaching participants how to interact with the sea in a conscious and secure manner.
