Italy unveils August 2026 cultural events in Potenza valley and Martina Franca
On 8 and 23 August 2026 the Rete museale Alta Valle del Potenza will host a free, reservation‑only trekking itinerary to mark the 800th anniversary of St. Francis of Assisi’s death. The 13‑kilometre “Sentiero francescano” starts at the church of San Francesco in Pioraco, follows the Scarzito stream and ends in Sefro, with a cultural stop at the Museum of Archaeology and the Museum of Electricity and Territory in San Severino.
At the same time, the small baroque church of SS. Trinità in Martina Franca will present the “Voci dal Regno di Napoli” exhibition. Organized by Damiano Nicolella, the show displays family‑owned 17th‑20th‑century paintings of saints from the former Kingdom of Naples. Admission is free and the exhibition runs on 8–9 August 2026, accompanied by the organizer’s personal anecdotes about the saints’ intercessions.
