Italy upgrades Vigili del Fuoco infrastructure in Pianoro and Chioggia

Italian authorities have marked significant progress in upgrading the national fire service infrastructure with new developments in Pianoro and Chioggia.

In Pianoro, Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Undersecretary Emanuele Prisco inaugurated a new permanent headquarters for the Vigili del Fuoco. Replacing the old facility, the new site was funded through both public and private resources, including contributions from the Marchesini Group. The station serves the local municipality and surrounding areas, including the management of major railway tunnels such as the Grande Galleria dell’Appennino. The current detachment consists of 28 firefighters performing approximately 600 interventions annually.

In Chioggia, Undersecretary Prisco visited the site for a planned new station scheduled for construction starting in early 2027. This €5.4 million government investment aims to replace the current historic center station, which faces logistical limitations. The new facility will feature an integrated design combining land and maritime rescue capabilities, including a specialized dock on the Canale della Fossetta for lagoon rescue vehicles and naval units, alongside advanced training spaces.
