Italy weather models predict prolonged heat through September

Weather models from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and GFS indicate that Italy will experience prolonged summer-like conditions throughout much of September. The first two decades of the month are expected to see temperatures significantly above climatological averages across the country.

A strong subtropical anticyclone is projected to persist, particularly impacting Central and Southern Italy, as well as Sardinia and Sicily. This will result in high humidity and sweltering conditions, especially in coastal and inland areas. While some thunderstorms may occur in the Alps, the Prealps, and occasionally along the Adriatic coast, most regions will maintain summer weather patterns with little sign of an autumn transition until mid-month.
