Italy women's football team advances to World Cup playoff finals

The Italy women's national football team has advanced to the final round of the World Cup playoffs following a 1-1 draw against Belarus at the Stadio Franchi. This result, combined with their 2-0 victory in the first leg in Tbilisi, secures their progression to the next stage of qualification for the 2027 World Cup in Brazil.

Italy will now face Finland in a decisive two-legged playoff. Finland secured their spot by defeating Serbia 3-1 in their respective matchup. The first leg of the tie is scheduled to take place in Finland on December 1, with the return match held in Italy on December 5.

FIGC Commissioner Giovanni Malagò praised the team's achievement, emphasizing the need for support as they face this final obstacle. Head coach Andrea Soncin noted that while the team could have performed better in the second half, the primary objective of reaching the playoff finals was met.
