Italy Women's Rugby prepares for WXV Global Series clash against South Africa

The Italian women's national rugby team is preparing to face South Africa in the second round of the WXV Global Series at the Stadio Omero Tognon in Fontanafredda. Following a 55-21 victory against Japan, head coach Plinio Sciamanna has announced several changes to the squad to prepare for the higher-caliber South African opponent.

While the starting XV remains largely consistent, including captain Vittoria Ostuni Minuzzi, Sciamanna has made adjustments to the lineup, bringing back experienced players Michela Sillari and Elisa Giordano. However, last-minute changes to the bench were necessary due to injuries; Mascia Jelic and Laura Foscato are unavailable, with Giorgia Cuoghi and Beatrice Veronese expected to provide depth.

Coach Sciamanna emphasized that the upcoming match will be significantly more intense than the previous fixture and noted that the team is working on improving defensive drives and physical presence.
