Italy women's volleyball tops Pool D at EuroVolley 2026

The Italian women's national volleyball team has secured first place in Pool D at the EuroVolley 2026 after a 3-1 victory against France in Göteborg, Sweden. Led by coach Julio Velasco, the team completed the group stage with five consecutive wins and a perfect record of 15 points.

Despite the victory, Velasco noted areas for improvement, expressing concern over the team's tendency to engage in excessive discussion during moments of difficulty. He emphasized the need for players to focus on the next immediate action rather than dwelling on errors. Key performers included Paola Egonu, who led the scoring, and Ekaterina Antropova.

The team will now advance to the knockout stage in Brno, Czech Republic, where they are scheduled to face the fourth-placed team from Pool B.
