Italy's 2026 Literary Festivals Highlight Journalism and Global Issues

From 30 July to 2 August 2026 the basilica of Saccargia in Codrongianos, Sardinia will host the eighth edition of Liquida, a festival dedicated to journalistic literature. The program features Ilan Pappé and Ramzy Baroud opening the event with a debate on the Middle East, a round‑table on press‑freedom titled “Libertà di stampa vigilata,” and discussions on topics such as China’s global role, democratic crises, capitalism and the impact of technology.

In the same summer, the “Letteratura e Territorio” Summer Edition will move to Monte Sant’Angelo after a stop in Manfredonia. Historian and veteran reporter Alessandro Cassieri will present his book on the Russia‑Ukraine war, emphasizing rigorous, independent reporting. The evening programme includes authors Carola Benedetto and Luciana Ciliento discussing their work, underscoring how literature can foster community and dialogue about current international challenges. Both festivals aim to promote freedom of the press, cultural exchange and critical reflection on contemporary global affairs.
