Italy's 2026 Wellness Festivals Boost Health and Sport Tourism

In August 2026 the coastal town of Chioggia hosted the "Spiagge della Salute" event on the Sottomarina beach. Free medical screenings, nutrition and dermatology consultations were offered alongside outdoor activities such as SUP, beach tennis, volleyball, soccer, ping‑pong and zumba. Demonstrations by the Italian Rescue Dog School and a low‑altitude helicopter drill by the Guardia di Finanza highlighted safety training. Mayor Mauro Armelao praised the initiative for combining prevention, sport and community enjoyment.

Meanwhile, the Rotonda Food Wellness Week in the Basilicata village of Rotonda concluded with the VII Nerulum Cup, an international sitting‑volleyball tournament featuring Italy, Kosovo, Spain and the United Kingdom. The event was attended by ParaVolley Europe president Branko Mihorko, former Italian captain Valerio Vermiglio and local officials, underscoring regional support for inclusive sport and healthy lifestyles.
