Italy's Azzurri coach race sees Conte await FIGC decision amid Saudi offer

Antonio Conte remains a leading candidate to become head coach of Italy’s national football team, but the Italian federation’s decision hinges on how his role is valued beyond salary. The former Napoli manager is on holiday in Salento and has said the Azzurri job is his priority, even as he receives lucrative offers, notably a €20 million‑per‑season contract from Saudi club Al Ittihad.

Roberto Mancini is currently viewed as the favourite, with the FIGC president Luciano Malagò expected to make the final call. Conte has indicated he will accept a foreign offer only if the federation appoints Mancini, while he stresses that the appointment should reflect the professional stature and responsibilities of the position.
