Italy's Court of Cassation reopens Roberta Ragusa disappearance case

The Italian Court of Cassation has reopened the investigation into the disappearance of Roberta Ragusa, annulling the acquittal of Antonio Logli. Logli had previously been accused of voluntary homicide and the destruction of a corpse in connection with his wife's disappearance.

The case has been sent back to the court in Pisa for a new trial, offering a renewed opportunity to examine evidence and testimonies. The decision was welcomed by Nicodemo Gentile, a lawyer representing the civil party association Penelope Italia, who stated that the ruling provides hope for justice.

Recent developments have introduced new complexities to the case. Statements from a former housekeeper of the Logli family have raised questions regarding the whereabouts of Ragusa's body, with some suggesting it may never be recovered. Additionally, investigators have explored the hypothesis that the body could have been disposed of via waste disposal systems and subsequently destroyed in an incinerator.
