Italy's Court of Cassation revokes probation for stalker

The Italian Court of Cassation has upheld the revocation of social service probation for a convicted man found responsible for persecutory behavior, violence, and threats against his former partner.

The decision follows an investigation by the Carabinieri of Lucca, which provided evidence including video recordings submitted by the victim. The surveillance court of Florence had previously suspended the alternative measure and ordered the man's immediate imprisonment after determining his conduct was incompatible with social reintegration.

In his appeal, the defense argued that evidence was misinterpreted and requested house arrest due to respiratory health issues. However, the Supreme Court rejected these claims, affirming the surveillance judge's autonomy to evaluate criminal conduct and the inherent danger posed by the defendant.
