Elly Schlein and center-left leaders coordinate political program

At the ‘Pronti per l’alternativa’ convention in Montepulciano, Democratic Party (PD) leader Elly Schlein emphasized the need for unity among center-left allies to challenge the current government. Schlein criticized the Meloni administration, stating that Italy has become poorer and more socially distressed under its leadership. She proposed a new development model focused on social protection and equality.

Simultaneously, Giuseppe Conte of the Five Star Movement and Angelo Bonelli of Avs have pressed for an accelerated timeline to finalize a shared political program. Conte called for immediate meetings to detail common proposals, while Bonelli expressed relief that Schlein and Conte have agreed to begin discussions as early as next week. The coalition aims to present a unified front, potentially including centrist forces, ahead of future elections.
