Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara reiterated his support for a “educational disconnect” during the summer break, arguing that children should have a period free from school‑related tasks. He said that the end of the school year should mark a clear end to formal instruction, allowing students to rest, engage in outdoor activities, visit museums, read for pleasure and spend time with family.

While many pedagogues endorse a homework‑free vacation as a psychosocial necessity, some teachers continue to assign mathematics‑focused activities, such as treasure‑hunt games, to keep logical skills sharp. These initiatives aim to blend problem‑solving with movement and social interaction, offering an alternative to traditional worksheets while maintaining academic continuity.
