Italy: FNOPI and CNS sign agreement to strengthen transfusion network
The National Federation of Nursing Orders (FNOPI) and the National Blood Center (CNS) have signed a two-year memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening Italy's national transfusion network. The agreement seeks to improve the lives of patients requiring blood components or plasma derivatives by promoting a culture of voluntary and periodic donation.
A key component of the partnership is the enhancement of the nursing role within the transfusion system. The entities intend to implement organizational models based on ‘task sharing’ and ‘task shifting’ to optimize healthcare resources and improve the efficiency of the entire care pathway. This includes a specific focus on plasma donation and the promotion of healthy lifestyles for donors.
To manage and monitor these initiatives, a permanent national working group will be established. The collaboration will also involve joint information and awareness campaigns for the public to foster a widespread culture of donation.
