France 2026 tax filing deadlines and €50 commuting aid announced
The French tax administration (DGFiP) has published the full 2026 tax filing calendar for income earned in 2025. Online submissions open on 9 April and close by department: May 21 2026 for departments 01‑19 (and non‑residents), May 28 2026 for 20‑54, and June 4 2026 for 55‑976. Paper returns must be posted by 19 May 2026. Late filings incur a 10 % penalty, rising to 40 % with interest.
A targeted €50 commuting allowance will be paid in June to up to three million taxpayers who regularly use a personal vehicle for work trips, provided they submit a request on the tax portal before the end of July. The payment is separate from the automatic tax‑credit refunds scheduled for late July.
Free assistance will be available from DGFiP agents and volunteer accountants via the “Allô Impôt” hotline on several dates (21 May, 27 May, 3 June, etc.) and through extra Saturday support sessions (23 May, 6 June, 13 June, 20 June). Taxpayers are urged to verify pre‑filled data, correct any errors before the deadline, and can amend their return online until the final filing date.
