Italy's Lombardy Road Works Disrupt Traffic on SS36 Tunnel and Provincial Road 6

From the night of 23 June, the SS36 tunnel under Lecco will be closed for three consecutive nights (until 5 a.m.) to finish a drainage system installed after the severe October 2024 flood. During the closure, traffic is diverted via the Via Fiandra exit and re‑enters the highway at the Aldo Moro ramp. Additional lane restrictions are scheduled for the night of 24‑25 June on the SS36 sections at Costa Masnaga, Suello and Bosisio Parini, with alternating lane narrowings to allow safety‑related signage work. No firm completion date has been announced for the broader Giussano‑Civate upgrades, though other works, such as the Monte Piazzo tunnel refurbishment, are on track to finish by year‑end.

In Luino, provincial road 6 will see temporary traffic changes on 25, 26 and 29 June. Measures include an alternating one‑way system on Via Lugano, a mandatory left turn at the “Sanary Sur Mer” roundabout for vehicles arriving from the Dogana di Fornasette, and exclusions for buses, emergency vehicles and police. Police will monitor the area, and work schedules will respect regional heat‑wave regulations that may pause activities during peak temperatures.
