Italy government targets 2027 Budget approval for next week

The Italian government is finalizing the 2027 Budget Law, with plans to bring the text to the Council of Ministers between October 27 and 28. Following a summit at Palazzo Chigi involving Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, and other coalition leaders, the administration is working to balance economic growth with financial stability.

Key priorities for the budget include support for families, the middle class, youth, and the elderly. The plan also aims to strengthen the healthcare system and implement measures to contain energy costs for both citizens and businesses. One proposed fiscal measure involves a two-step Irpef tax cut, which could reduce the rate to 33% for incomes up to 55,000 euros in 2027.

Minister Giorgetti emphasized a cautious approach, noting that the government is awaiting final details regarding budget deviation margins granted by the European Union. The administration must manage high public debt and the impact of rising interest rates while navigating the transition from PNRR-funded initiatives to new structural measures.
