Italian Health Ministry launches national respiratory health technical table

On 29 July, the Sala Tina Anselmi at Italy's Ministry of Health hosted the inaugural meeting of a new National Technical Table on respiratory health. The table was created by Health Minister Orazio Schillaci and is coordinated by Paola Rogliani, who was appointed by ministerial decree.

The body brings together representatives from the Ministry’s relevant departments, the Italian Society of Pneumology (Sip‑Irs), the Association of Hospital Pneumologists (Aipo), the Society of General Medicine and Primary Care (Simg), the Italian Society of Pediatrics (Sip) and the pneumology Consulta, which represents patient associations. It has established three sub‑groups dealing with prevention, hospital‑territory coordination and critical‑area pneumology networks. Their mandate is to draft documents that promote prevention of respiratory diseases, strengthen early diagnosis and introduce innovative care pathways, addressing the significant epidemiological, clinical and social burden of these conditions. Verona University Hospital pneumology director Claudio Micheletto was also named as a member of the table.
