Italy's New Open-Air and Ethnographic Museums Highlight Local Heritage

An open‑air museum dedicated to the traditional Carnival of Cosentini di Montecorice (Campania) was created by the Association Euphória with support from the Cilento National Park. Ten ceramic panels illustrate Carnival characters and scenes, while QR codes let visitors view videos and virtual tours, including an option for those with mobility challenges.

In the Piedmont village of Mocchie (Condove), the ethnographic museum “La Ghindana” was renovated in the former municipal building. Named after a local alley, it showcases mountain‑life artifacts donated by residents since 1997. The exhibit is split into two rooms: one displaying everyday domestic items and another presenting agricultural tools and alpeggio equipment, with continual updates to the collection. The museum honors founder Pino Donatone.
