Italy’s Roselle and Ferrara launch anti‑violence‑against‑women initiatives

In Roselle, a red bench was inaugurated on 31 July in Piazza Giovanni Paolo II to honour women victims of gender‑based violence. The event, organised by the Comitato Vivi Roselle, was attended by local officials Carla Minacci and Riccardo Ginanneschi and featured short films by director Sendy Giamattei. The red‑bench symbol, now recognized across Italy, aims to keep public attention on the issue and promote prevention.

In Ferrara, the “Mai bandiera bianca” campaign against violence toward women was introduced on 30 July in the city’s municipal libraries. The initiative, promoted by ANCI together with the Ministry’s Department for Equal Opportunities, saw assessor Angela Travagli and commission president Brando Sarto deliver official posters to several library reading rooms. The campaign seeks to embed anti‑violence messaging in cultural spaces and engage young people in the fight for gender equality.
