Italy’s skin‑care advice highlights sunscreen use and brightening creams

Experts emphasize that daily broad‑spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50+ is the cornerstone for preventing and treating facial hyperpigmentation. UV exposure drives melanin production, so protecting the skin enables topical brightening agents to work effectively.

Key brightening ingredients include vitamin C, niacinamide, azelaic acid, retinoids and, for severe cases, prescription‑strength hydroquinone under medical supervision. Consistent application and sufficient sun‑free intervals are required for visible results.

For children, direct sun should be avoided in the first six months. After six months, pediatric‑grade mineral sunscreens with high SPF are recommended, applied generously 20‑30 minutes before exposure and reapplied every two hours or after swimming or sweating. Physical protection such as shade, hats and UV‑filtering clothing should complement sunscreen.

Mineral (physical) sunscreens are presented as gentler for sensitive or very fair skin, avoiding chemical filters while still covering UVA, UVB and visible light. Suggested products include Beauty of Joseon Comfort Protection Mineral Body Lotion SPF 30, Neutrogena Sheer Zinc Oxide Kids Stick, Avène Mineral Lotion SPF 50 and Yepoda Sunsational Stick, all designed to minimize white cast and provide soothing benefits.
