Italy's summer tax filing pause extends into September for 2026

The Italian tax administration has declared a summer suspension of most filing and payment deadlines for August 2026. While the agency cannot issue notices, debt collection letters, or bonafide reminders between 1 August and 31 August, taxpayers must still meet key dates such as the 5 August deadline for the fifth‑round tax amnesty and the 20 August cluster of deferred obligations.

In addition, a separate suspension applies to the transmission of documents requested by the Agenzia delle Entrate, lasting from 1 August to 4 September. The pause does not cover activities performed during on‑site inspections, audits, or VAT‑refund related procedures, and other procedural deadlines remain unaffected.
