Italy's Transport Subsecretary Tullio Ferrante Announces €700 M Infrastructure Plan for Lucca
At a conference organized by the Altero Matteoli Association in Lucca, sub‑secretary for transport Tullio Ferrante detailed a €700 million programme funded by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The plan targets the completion of the Lucca bypass, the duplication of the Pistoia‑Lucca railway line, expansion of the freight terminal at Castelnuovo, and broader upgrades to road and transport accessibility across the province. Ferrante said the investments are intended to strengthen tourism and the region’s economic competitiveness.
The event, attended by local mayors, business leaders and regional officials, also referenced a recent TAR ruling that suspended a road project after a land‑ownership dispute. Speakers highlighted the need for modern transport links to sustain visitor flows and support long‑term growth in Tuscany.
