Itamar Ben-Gvir releases AI video depicting starvation of Palestinian prisoners

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released an AI-generated video as part of his parliamentary election campaign that depicts the starvation of Palestinian prisoners. The video shows prisoners losing weight and weeping after Ben-Gvir appears to press a button to remove privileges such as food and tobacco.

The content, which garnered over four million views before being deleted following widespread backlash, drew comparisons from critics to Nazi concentration camps. Ben-Gvir, leader of the Otzir Yehudit party, holds a key role in Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

Human rights organization B’Tselem has accused the Israeli government of operating a network of torture camps, while Palestinian detainees have long reported mistreatment. In 2025, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that the state must ensure adequate nutritional levels for detainees. Ben-Gvir is already subject to sanctions from countries including the United Kingdom, Canada, and France due to his controversial rhetoric and actions.
