Itapema houses collapse near construction site

Two houses in the Meia Praia neighborhood of Itapema partially collapsed on Friday morning due to ground instability at a nearby construction site. The incident occurred around 11:54 a.m. on Rua 290.

A family from Brusque, including a child, was inside one of the residences at the time of the collapse. The structural failure caused a suite and its ceiling to fall, blocking the main entrance and trapping the occupants. Firefighters had to assist the family in exiting through a window. A vehicle and various personal belongings were buried under the debris. A second house located at the rear of the property was also affected, with part of a wall collapsing.

Emergency responders confirmed that no one was trapped or buried under the rubble. Following the initial rescue operation, the Civil Defense and an engineer were called to the scene to assess the structural integrity of the buildings and the stability of the terrain. The residents of the affected homes received medical attention for shock following the event.
