Itapura and Urucânia secure national tourism certifications and new funding streams in Brazil

The municipality of Itapura was granted dual certification by Brazil’s Ministry of Tourism through the Regionalization Program and State Interlocutors, and its Municipal Tourism Council (COMTUR) was also entered into the national tourism map system. Both certifications are valid until July 29, 2027 and allow the city to access federal and state resources for infrastructure, events, professional training and greater national visibility. Mayor Sergino Prado highlighted the recognition of the council’s work and the boost to sustainable tourism development.

In a separate but related development, the city of Urucânia received official habilitation to receive ICMS Tourism and ICMS Cultural funds from the Minas Gerais state government. The approvals recognize the municipality’s organized tourism policies and cultural heritage initiatives, opening new financing for infrastructure, heritage preservation, cultural promotion and local economic growth.
