Itatiaia expands emergency fleet with two new mobile ICUs

The municipality of Itatiaia is expanding its emergency medical services with the addition of two new advanced support ambulances, classified as mobile Intensive Care Units (ICUs). The investment totals R$ 756,000, with each Renault Master L3H2 unit costing R$ 378,000. Funding for the acquisition was provided through mandatory amendments and the Municipal Health Fund.

These new vehicles increase the municipal fleet from seven to nine ambulances. They are specifically equipped to handle high-complexity cases, including inter-hospital transfers and regulated removals to reference hospitals. The mobile ICUs feature specialized medical equipment such as infusion pumps, cardioversors, pulse oximeters, and both fixed and portable oxygen systems.

Additional technical specifications include independent climate control for the cabin and patient area, auxiliary batteries, power inverters, and specialized medical storage. The vehicles are also outfitted with GPS, rearview cameras, and emergency signaling systems to ensure safe and efficient transport for patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced life support.
