Itatiaia expands healthcare services and professional training

The municipality of Itatiaia is implementing several initiatives to improve public health services, focusing on both professional training and infrastructure expansion.

Through the Municipal Health Secretariat, the city recently conducted training sessions for approximately 35 healthcare professionals. These sessions focused on the emotional management of pain in palliative care patients and specialized dental care for cancer patients. The training aimed to enhance the quality and humanization of home care services provided by the 'Melhor em Casa' program.

In the dental sector, the municipality has expanded its network to include 37 dentists operating across eight Basic Health Units (UBS). Recent advancements include the modernization of equipment, such as rotary instruments for root canal treatments, and the expansion of dental prosthesis offerings. Additionally, a dental clinic was established at the Municipal Hospital to provide urgent care, offering services from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and 24-hour coverage during weekends.
