ITE orders Senator Ana Lilia Rivera to remove 85 walls of propaganda

The Tlaxcala Election Institute (ITE) has approved a precautionary measure ordering Senator Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera to remove, cover, or whitewash 85 walls and a banner featuring expressions directly identifying her.

Despite receiving written notification via email on the morning of August 31, 2026, stating that the propaganda had already been removed or whitewashed, the ITE General Council proceeded to approve the measure under resolution ITE-CG 58/2026. The resolution grants a 48-hour deadline from the time of notification to complete the removal.

The decision has raised questions regarding its necessity, as the electoral body was aware that the targeted propaganda had been eliminated before the council processed the file. Additionally, the ITE acknowledged that authorship, contracting, payment, or specific orders for the advertising have not been officially accredited at this preliminary stage.
