Itea hosts commemorations for the Battle of Agali
The Region of Central Greece – Phocis successfully concluded a three-day series of commemorative events in Itea on September 27, 2026, honoring the historical Battle of Agali. The celebrations, which are closely linked to the Greek War of Independence, featured a diverse program combining historical documentation, music, and cultural activities.
The program included participation from the Hellenic Navy, various philharmonic societies, cultural and athletic clubs, historical reenactors, and local students. Key highlights included a parade by the Itea Blood Donors Association ‘O Pelekanos’, academic presentations regarding the military and technological aspects of the battle, and musical performances by Nikos Papoutsis and Violeta Galanou.
A significant moment of the festivities involved the arrival of the naval vessel P-267 Nikiforos at the port of Itea, accompanied by a formal reception for the Hellenic Navy delegation and orchestral meetings involving multiple philharmonic bands.
