A Nigerian social media user, known as Enori, has issued a public apology after admitting to using artificial intelligence to fabricate an image of an itel Power Tank explosion. The false claim, which circulated on X (formerly Twitter), suggested the portable power station had exploded due to overcharging.

Enori deleted the original post and expressed regret, stating that the incident never occurred and that the image was entirely AI-generated. In her apology, she acknowledged the potential damage to the brand and expressed remorse toward both the itel team and customers who may have been misled by the misinformation.

In response to the incident, itel warned that it would pursue legal action against individuals who deliberately use fabricated or AI-generated content to spread false information about its products. The company emphasized that its Power Tank devices include multiple safety protections, such as battery management and temperature controls, and noted that no verified incidents match the fabricated image.
