Iter Ignis: Sacred Fire to travel 230km from Albacete to Cartagena
The seventh edition of 'Iter Ignis' will see the 'Sacred Fire' travel over 230 kilometers from Elche de la Sierra in Albacete to Cartagena. The journey, themed ‘Amílcar en la encrucijada’, is scheduled to begin on September 13 at the Mirador de Amílcar Barca.
The flame will traverse five stages, passing through Hellín, Cieza, Ricote, Alhama de Murcia, and Fuente Álamo before reaching its final destination at the Cerro del Molinete in Cartagena. Once there, it will symbolically ignite the festivities of the 'Fiestas de Cartagineses y Romanos'.
This edition marks the first time the province of Albacete serves as the starting point. The initiative aims to strengthen historical and cultural ties between the participating municipalities, celebrating the legacy of the Carthaginian general Amílcar Barca, who is traditionally linked to the Elche de la Sierra region.
