Iter Musicum Europae tour brings Renaissance music to 12 Romanian cities

The ‘Iter Musicum Europae’ national tour will feature Renaissance and early Baroque music across 12 historical locations in Romania. Organized by the Timișoara Baroque Festival Association, the tour runs from September 17 to September 28, visiting cities including Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, Sibiu, Alba Iulia, and Timișoara.

Musicians from Romania and Hungary will perform works from the 16th and 17th centuries using period-accurate instruments such as the lute, viola da gamba, recorder, and virginal. A notable highlight is a virginal reconstructed by Caius Hera based on a 1605 Amsterdam model, featuring decorations by artist Remus Rotaru.

The project aims to integrate musical performance with architectural heritage by hosting concerts in churches, fortresses, and museums. In addition to the live performances, the tour will offer a professional CD and a mini-encyclopedia regarding Renaissance music to the public.
