ITESA students develop electric go-kart prototypes

Eighth-semester automotive systems engineering students at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior del Oriente del Estado de Hidalgo (ITESA) have developed two functional 100 percent electric go-kart prototypes. The project was conducted as part of their specialization in electromobility.

The initiative aligns with the ‘Plan México’ and national projects such as ‘Olinia’, which aim to strengthen domestic capabilities in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of accessible electric vehicles while reducing dependence on foreign technologies. To complete the prototypes, students applied technical knowledge in computer-aided design, manufacturing processes, electrical machines, power electronics, and battery systems.

A performance demonstration was held in June at the ITESA Polideportivo to test the efficiency and functionality of the vehicles. The project was coordinated by instructor Joshio Guadalupe García Acosta with support from the Academy of Automotive Systems.
