ITLA and Fortinet Partner to Boost Cybersecurity in the Dominican Republic

The Instituto Tecnológico de Las Américas (ITLA) and global security firm Fortinet signed a historic strategic alliance in Santo Domingo aimed at strengthening the Dominican Republic’s cybersecurity ecosystem. The agreement includes joint initiatives in education, awareness, and capacity building, with plans to establish a state‑of‑the‑art lab, integrate Fortinet‑aligned certification content into the curriculum, and provide technical support for cybersecurity frameworks and standards.

ITLA rector Ing. Jimmy Rosario Bernard called the pact a major step for Dominican talent development, while Fortinet’s regional VP for North Latin America, Hans Fermín, highlighted opportunities for thousands of young professionals to access remote international markets and boost the local economy. The collaboration also envisions faculty training, student competition support, and links between multinational companies and graduates to improve job placement.

The partnership is positioned as a catalyst for advancing digital security practices across the country and enhancing the competitiveness of its technology sector.
