ITOCHU to become strategic minority shareholder in IAG Engine Tech

Iberia has signed an agreement with ITOCHU Corporation, under which the Japanese trading and investment group will acquire a minority stake in IAG Engine Tech (IET). IAG will retain a majority shareholding in the company through Iberia.

IAG Engine Tech was established in 2026 to serve as the specialist aircraft engine maintenance business within International Consolidated Airlines Group (IAG). The partnership aims to accelerate IET’s growth and strengthen its international profile, particularly within the third-party market. The company plans to begin engine maintenance operations in early 2027, utilizing the CFM LEAP Premier MRO license and building upon the existing expertise of Iberia Maintenance.

Iberia Chairman and CEO Marco Sansavini stated that the incorporation of ITOCHU brings investment capacity and international presence to support the long-term vision of the company’s Flight Plan 2030. The transaction is expected to be completed in early 2027, pending necessary regulatory approvals.
