Itsasuko to remove mural following prefect order

The town council of Itsasuko has announced it will remove a mural from the Sanoki bar building following an order from the Prefect of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. The mural commemorates Txomin Olhagaray Iparretarrak, a member of the IK organization who died in 1980.

Prefect Simon Fetet ordered the removal to uphold the principle of neutrality for public buildings, describing the mural as a glorification of a failed IK attack. In response, the Itsasuko Herriko Etxeak stated they would comply with the order and hire a company to remove the painting, though they expressed surprise at the decision and emphasized their commitment to peace and coexistence.
